My opinion tends to cause arguements, so I'll refrain. As to the paint to use, all of the black paint on my rig has been the VHT Roll Bar and Chassis. The high temp resistance has kept it from fading due to sun exposure. I've used it on both plastic and metal and it holds up very well.
For the plastic though, I do support the suggestion for the Krylon Fusion. It has a good elasticity that keeps up with the seasonal flux of the plastic.

They are not plastic though. Believe it or not they are metal.

Wonder if you could make these out of some expanded steel? As for the color, make it your favorite flag.

They are going to be black. Just not sure if painted or bedlined. Thinking I am going to start with the Plastic Dip. Always been curious about it and figure this will give me an opportunity to play with some.

I don't really see why these could not be made easy enough. I am not metal worker but if you could find some sort of grating in a thin enough sheet to work with, make a mold, concave maybe, cut to size, and kind of hammer it in? All your tool marks would be on the part that does not show. And if you are painting them does it even matter anyway.

What did you do to your XJ/MJ today?

Got the the exhaust done on the 94 today sounds pretty good but seems to drone more that I was hoping for but being my wife is dd it and like it I will take it for a win. So any way I am 230 in a 2.5” cat back system so not to bad. The cat was off my 98 and is only a 1 yr old so we reused it! (Put the high flow on the 98)

So some of you might remember that I picked up some heated seats, both power seat bases, wiring harness, and the switches awhile back. Well the heated seats don't work. Pretty sure it is the heating element wiring. But I figured I would work on getting the power seat base in the passenger side. Driver's side I made power awhile back. So I wire wheeled and wire brushed the feet as best I could. Tomorrow hoping to prep and POR 15 them. Also hit a little here and there on the base with the POR 15 too. Brackets I could remove I soaked in EvapoRust and will also try to prep and POR 15 tomorrow. When I refreshed the base on the driver's side I replaced a 2 motors. Not the forward and back one. I had 2 bases so it was easy enough to make one good base. Those I was able figure out how to get out. Always wondered about the forward and back one though. Since I removed the bracket on the forward and back one on this seat base while I was moving it around it fell off. Turns out the 2 cables I circled, see the third shot, just pull out and you have the motor in your hand.

Came across this.

https://www.rvinyl.com/Jeep-Cherokee...ndow-Tint.html

I would never do this but that is because if I tried to tint windows myself would most likely do a crappy job. Not even sure if this is worth it but them being precut kinda made sense to me. Few things at this site that might be of interest to some of you guys.

I'm measuring about 9* of caster and I'm reading at 3" nominal lift (my actual is ~3.25, so it should be damn close) , most guys are running more like 6*, and I'm pretty sure stock spec is 7* +/- 1-1/2*

As a side note: Anyone know if the bolts for the LCA bracket spacers are anything special? I've got one that got bent up bouncing off a rock or something so if I'm going to play with the caster it'll have to be replaced.

Edit to match the thread again: Today I messed around with the alignment and wound up reducing the toe-in a couple turns, looks like I had too much toe and I still have too much caster. There's no shims on the LCA's to remove, so I'm looking at lower arms that can adjust down to stock length or close to it, or upper arms that can be just above stock length. I'm leaning towards the latter, since my eyeballing tells me the axle is pulled back a little from where it wants to be as it is, though I haven't tried cycling the suspension up til it hits the bumpstops to confirm. As I understand caster's impact, this would explain why I've had a lot of trouble getting the return to center behavior I expect, which played a part in me adjusting for more toe-in in the first place, (apparently) falsely blaming that issue on too little toe in.

Hey blue,

So by my experience, you shouldn’t have any trouble with 9* of castor. I actually run 9.5* on my hp30 with 5” of lift. Increasing the castor will make the axle try harder to return the steering wheel to center after making a turn. I run a very slight toe in. My Jeep has been set this way with no sway bar and no steering stabilizer for the last 5k miles and my steering is about as good as it gets. No one that drives it can believe how nice the front end feels. I’d bet you have something worn out or loose, because in my experience over 9* of castor has resulted in a fantastic handling front end.

Little late to the party here, but I really like the metal inserts. Looks sharp.

Do you think I should make them black? I was also wondering how black inserts might look with the Chrome grill too.

Personally I like the metal looking inserts in the black border, but that’s just me. I’m not the one that will usually have to look at it. Although I did find myself right by your house like 2 weeks ago. If I was there in the Jeep, I would have stopped by, but of course I was in my Jetta.

Should have stopped by anyway. I thought it was still a little too much but the fact that they are a brushed metal and not outright chrome helped. Be a bit before I actually do anything with these. So I will have plenty of time to overthink it. Why should this be any different then anything else I do. LOL. One of the reasons that temporarily I am thinking about using Plastic Dip to start with.

Granted you have a late model so it'd look just slightly different. But here's a peak at the idea.
