You might save a little face if you used thread tape instead the dreaded RTV .

I didn't even know there was thread tape tape that could stand up to PS fluid so that's something to track down.

See, this is why I ask you guys before I do something I suspect may be stupid.

Any decent hardware or big box home improvement store should have yellow gas rated thread tape .

So, the Jeep still runs and drives perfectly fine, but the body is still hurting pretty bad. Finally spent like 20 minutes on the Jeep tonight. The passenger door fits perfect still even though itís now removable. Literally no sag. The drivers side is another story. I can make the door close currently? But the gaps are horrible. I think a lot of that is because the door is off another Jeep and it probably needs to be shimmed differently, but at least it has a door back on it for now. So some progress. I pushed the A pillar out probably 3/8-1/2Ē tonight before the door would close.

The white plumbers tape will work also. I'm a ford mechanic and one upon a time when our trucks and cars had steering gears there were a couple that called for the use of it in the shop manual. Not all but there were some which I never understood. Probably because ford.

This one has a long life ahead of it still. If the damage was worse, it would have become a tube buggy, not gone to the junk yard haha

Interesting. I just assumed PS fluid would eat it. Because......reasons. I'll give it a whirl this weekend when I have time to properly clean the surfaces, tape them and burp the system.

Weather is beautiful today. Gotta go put an alternator in a WJ for a coworker. Then plan to get the winch and trailer wired. Once the trailer is wired, I'll probably spend the rest of the day drilling holes to mount the dp floor.

You are definitely determined. Ever since I bought a welder, I dread having to actually drill holes. Welding is like bolting, but without having to buy bolts of spend any time drilling holes.

I canít remember the last time I removed a stake pocket from a trailer. Booting them on is a fine way of doing it, Iím just saying I donít envy the work being out into it.

I do prefer the ability to unbolt and possibly repurpose the materials someday. Who knows, I could come upon a great deal on some wood, remove the dp and do wood decking.
The aluminum and steel dont weld together.
And of the few things I could have welded, I just kinda prefer the bolted/modular look.
Consistency is part of my insanity.

This is kinda of embarrassing but since I have a factory 6 CD changer in my Jeep I am supposed to have a wireless remote. Came today. I'm sorry I wanted it. LOL
