So I actually have been keeping this in mind. Unfortunately, I don't have the correct tools to make this a cost effective kit. I will however have two files, one file that would be for a shop with a big bender that could make this in less pieces, and another that would be able to be shipped flat. I intend to talk to the local fab shop and see what they have to say about it. You really have to be able to buy steel in bulk and access to a plasma table or equivalent to make something like this competitive. But first I'll have to build a couple, or at the very least one of them, and fine tune things. Might be a prototype up for sale at some point if I go forward with it....

Now for the fun part... make sure you get it on straight, both side to side and front to back. Otherwise they can come out looking pretty stupid. Also that's not an actual XJ visor, seems to be missing the a-pillar mount.

Those things are usually a tough and expensive find. When I see these on Craigslist and whatnot I always stop and look at them. Not really sure why though. Don't really care for them. Might be cause in the 70's and 80's lots of guys used to run these with that wing in the bed of their trucks. Those wing things I really hate. But I get why some of you guys run the visors though. One thing I think I know is that '96 down Lund ones apprear to be a different part # then '97 and up ones. If anybody would know it betting it would be S8NNG8.

Operation Restore Cranky Brat is set to begin on Saturday...the boyfriend is kidnapping the XJ for a week and installing all the parts weíve collected over the past few weeks. Last Saturday he went out with the guys on a pick and pull run; they scored a parts 99 XJ for $200. My guy pulled the front passenger quarter panel, hood along with the blower motor, resistor and a few other things he says we might need. Iím so ready to have my cranky brat back on the road...I miss driving the old girl. Although itís not going to be a hardship driving his lifted Silverado?

Itís definitely an XJ visor. Came off an XJ. You talking about this tab here? You couldnít really see that one in the first pictures.

Good deal! If you want some pics or pointers for positioning let me know. One of the most crucial positioning factors is to realize that the drip rails have a little bit of an arch to them. The lip that folds over the driprail helps to guide the process.

Good deal, I'll be sure to ask when I get to that point. It will be a while though. I have a few other projects for the Jeep before I get to this one, and I have a few other projects for other people's Jeeps before I get to mine. I have two Jeeps that need to be regeared, one that needs a truss and LCA mounts, two getting stiffeners, and an engine swap this winter, then I can start on my Jeep with rear shock relocation, rock sliders, and some maintenance items. Then I can start working on the fun stuff like this visor, and I'd also like to build a cowl hood. Both of which will be painted to match the Jeep. But as you can see, it will be a while before any of my projects happen. Jeeps parked for the winter anyway.

What did you do to your XJ/MJ today?

Fired mine up for the first time in two weeks or so. Started quick and purred like a kitten. Drove it around be property for about 15 minutes just to get everything moving and get the rust off the rotors. Now happily parked back in her spot, for probably at least until after the holidays.

I've had my shock relo-brackets for a few years now. Still debating on whether I'm going to use them. Theories in my head keep talking me out of doing it.

You'll kick yourself for waiting. The improvement in the rear suspension is nothing short of amazing. The stock shackle angle couldn't be any wronger.
