S8n yeah I know. I didn't want to go crawling around in the muck that is my local junkyard to verify. I'll do it once I get it home. It was the only one in the yard that should have been lsd. If it's not oh well. I need it up and running it's my daily, even an open 8.25 29 spline is better then my d35.

It is possible that It was swapped out at some point it is still an 8.25 which is still better then my blown d35. You can also lift both rear tires off the ground and spin 1 tire. If the other spins the same way it's an Lsd, if it spins the opposite it's open. Due to rain and a muddy yard I couldn't do this test. At worst I upgraded to an 8.25. At best I upgraded to 8.25 with lsd, for 150 bucks and it was needed anyway I can't complain. It was also the only lsd in the yard so it is what it is if it doesn't have it. Just have to wait for the yard to pull it and call me and I can check.

Thanks for the info about the stickers by the backing plate and glove box. Did not know about that. Was under the impression that there might be a tag, under one of the diff cover bolts, that says so. Also know the difference when you look at them but not like you can take all the diff covers off at the boneyard. Also aware of spinning the wheel but mentioned that to somebody and they pointed out the the rear could welded, never really knew what that meant, or aftermarket. Maybe someday.

So are monthly freight orders came into the auto parts store last week. I helped but it beat me up good. Really did not want to do anything but can't waste nice days. I decided to do some easier stuff. So I cleaned and degreased the inside of the supports for my factory running boards with my power washer and some Purple Power. Metal prepped them and am waiting for them to dry so I can coat the inside with some Eastwood Internal Frame Coating. Will prep and POR 15 the outside down the road. Also have the hardware for the running boards soaking in Evaporust. I help them along with a little wire brushing here and there. I use the brass wire brushes in the black pouch inside the nuts and a regular brass wire brush on the bolt threads. Giver a couple swipes with a regular steel wire brush on the heads bolts and outside of nuts. Down the road will take my thread restorer tool to them all. Also scuffed up the mounting brackets with my drill and a wire wheel to prep and POR 15 at a later date.

Edit: Spayed the internal frame coating in the running board supports. They are in really good shape. The only 2 that I have seen up close and personal were rotted almost completely away on the bottom. I would like for mine not to turn into that.

Yanked out crappy d35. Stopping by a spring shop on Monday to have some u bolts made up. Then gonna throw the 8.25 with now confirmed limited slip in. Hopefully will be driving it regularly this week.

Wanted to wheel it this weekend, but the hills are so dry right now that pretty much anyplace to go play is shut down because of fire risk.

I just won't let myself be "that guy".

Picked up a JY master cylinder for it to hopefully make it safe until I can do a full overhaul of the brakes and got the DD's cooling system up and running, which certainly spares the XJ my 55 miles a day commute

Yesterday all I did was spin my wheels trying to get my TC skid on and spoiler back on. This crease in my hatch is not letting the double sided tape make contact all around. To make matters worse the crease is above my third eye letting water get under there and leaking through the the hole where the third eye is. Even with the plate I made to cover. Tried experimenting with some foam and to layers of the double sided tape to take up the extra space and seal. Thing is it raises the spoiler a bit so contact in other sections gets iffy. Thinking I am going to have to doubleside tape on a foam strip, drill, and bolt the spoiler on. Don't like drilling in panels like that but kinda of at a loss. If with the spoiler bolted on still does not seal all around then the only other thing I can think of is to caulk. With the TC skid I put two 5/16" rivnuts in the tranny cross member in the holes. The hole on the uni-body, that I am pretty sure is what would be used on that side does not line up. So I have to drill a couple new holes on that side. Got me thinking. Are the TC skids different for Command Trac and Select A Trac transfer cases?

Only had about 3 hours to work on the Jeep this weekend. Did the cut and fold on my drivers rear quarter panel and cut my drivers rear fender. I got it mostly welded back together but then had to stop. I had about 1/4 of the rear fender left and then both rear fenders will be done. I do still need to make a patch panel for the rear quarters. Then the red Jeep starts to come apart so I can get my nut strips and trailer hitch out of it to do the shackle relocation.

Absolutely clear of the smoke and dangerously bright in Helena. It's weird how the smoke has dissipated for the event of the century.
I found that I can use the camera from my old phone to look. Dont wanna risk harming my new phone.
A warning to all: Keep your toddlers in the house! They don't know any better than to look since everyone around will be looking up. Luckily my little one will be at a doctors appt during the eclipse.

one of the guys at work was handing out eclipse glasses today so I guess we are all going to go out at 2:30 to watch. Only about 65% coverage here but should still be cool to see.

What makes my pets more likely to look directly at the sun TODAY than they were YESTERDAY....?
