while not directly related to my XJ, I finally built a stand for my 3D printer rather than have it take up half of my second workbench.

Next step is to build a plexiglass enclosure on top and add a dehumidifier, which should help with both PLA and ABS printing. My printer has basically been out of commission since May because it's in the garage and the humidity has been murdering my filament spools within about 4 hours. Since a lot of my prints take 12-15 hours, you can see how this was a problem.

Flushed my coolant, worked on my power steering, added some tools to my go-bag/road-fix kit. Got a little depressed because I ran out of major to-do items for the Jeep and had to go into "if it ain't broke then don't fix it..." mode. So then I went fishing until it was dark. Which gave me a chance to catch some fish and take a few pics of the Jeep.

A 2-door version of my exact Jeep drove through town today. A rare sighting indeed. He waved.

Installed coil spacers and new front driver side hub. Haven't tested it at highway speed yet. If it continues to wobble then I will know that the issue is just intrinsic to the jeep due to the guard rail accident in 2007. In which case, I am just going to deal with it and enjoy my Jeep. Not taking this thing apart again!!!

Well on vacation starting today. Jeep is still at the body shop. Despite that "Project Jeep Week" is officially under way. Figure I will get the rest of the double sided tape residue off my door molding. Want to paint and put back on. Touch up all my wiper arms with a little flat black. Also want to take a close look at the roof rack, took it off for my body guy, to see if I should touch that up with some flat black also.

Started as DW. After completely rebuilding the front end, it still has a persistent throb that comes and goes at highway speed (70mph+), but is not so bad that I have to slow down. More of a nuisance.

That is a nice looking Jeep, man. I can't believe it is over 20 years old. Must have been garage kept or brought up from the south. Especially since you're a New Yorker like me. The only Jeeps I can find in NY are guaranteed to have at least a little rust.

Got to drive it today! I put in a new throttle cable, new air filter, checked the level in the front diff (its developed a leak), and then drove it to the gas station for some fresh gas, and then to the store to pick up milk for the wife, no issues at all! I did have to take a hammer to the exhaust down by the front drive shaft, it stopped the rubbing going over speed bumps, but I'll have to see what happens next time I take it off road. I may need to pay to get it fixed, since I don't have a pipe bender myself here, but we'll see.

My oldest daughter insisted on going with me when I took it for the test drive:

Might plan a camping trip in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks! Believe it or not its been in New York all of its life. You are right, that you don't see many like that up here. I'm not the original owner. I guess it belonged to an older gentleman that didn't use it that much, and kept it garaged. He did put it away wet and salty though, so its not entirely rust free underneath. I've been refreshing the underside a little at a time since I got it. (had 49k miles when I bought it about 10 months ago). The frame and axles were good. But the floorpans will need some attention over the next 1-2 years.

Great news guys. I finally solved all of my driveline vibrations. Swapped in a new iron rock Off-road ubolt HD yoke for the rear diff and the driveshaft is nice and tight.
