I use masterpro synthetic (the o'reillys store brand) I've never had reason to complain and it's a fair bit cheaper than royal purple. I think as long as you're checking it after water exposure for diff soup and replacing it when needed it doesn't really matter that much which brand you use. Kinda like oil.

Heard back from RE, their 3.5" leaves are 190 lbs/in. That puts them at something like 35ish in/lbs stiffer than stock non-towing leaves (as best I can tell), 20 stiffer than IRO and 50 lbs/in stiffer than OME. Haven't been able to find a spring rate spec (as opposed to load rating) on the stock towing leaves, but given that advantage in towing over the other two considered aftermarket choices and the reviews I've read on them I guess those will be my choice to replace the way too stiff packs I built.

I'm about to run it in my trans, cause it's the only one that I've found that says on the bottle that it's safe for soft yellow metals, so if I could buy it in bulk I prob would use it for my diffs as well. At least there would be one less bottle to shuffle through on the shelf when I needed to grab the oil! But at $20+ a bottle...

Quiet before what? What happened to change them from quiet to noisey?

Back when tolerances were a bit looser , a noisy differential would get a dose of saw dust when the car was put on the sale lot . Quiet as a mouse , for a while . They can't get away with that anymore . Good thing .

I have added Motor Honey or STP or Lucas to gear boxes that were loose , with decent results .

1995 Cherokee Country . Gone , but , not forgotten .

Goes around , comes around .

So, it's our 30th anniversary at work, huzzah. The company gave all employees a 30% off promo code for AutoAnything. I went to the site, tossed a XRC front bumper and 9500lb winch into the cart, thinking 'hey this is great, $500-ish for a bumper and winch delivered!' NOPE. Our promo code doesn't apply to anything Smittybilt, or Hella, Warn, ARB, etc. Basically if I want some new floormats or a dash cover great. Anything actually useful, no dice. Not even the 20% off promo offered on their website for new customers works on those brands.

After doing the online chat to figure out WTH, I was given this link of "excluded manufacturers", which includes just about every brand they sell.

http://www.autoanything.com/exclusions.aspx

...and yes, I would have stacked those promo codes for a total of 50% off if I could. lol

I changed the diff fluid from what ever was in there when I bought it. Fluid was clean and no metal but I put fresh fluid in.
