Well I bought this '89 XJ for $500 a few months back. The only problem with the body,(besides the need for a good wash and polish) was the rusty front bumper. So I pulled it today, and took everything off. Sanded it down. It was stamped '86 XJ on it. Someone had also scribed "fits '86 through '90 XJ". So I guess it was replaced with a junkyard one some time back. I sprayed it with some black Rust-oleum Rust Reformer. I think it looks pretty good. I just hope I sanded it down good enough for the paint to stick. Here are some before and after shots.

Drove it and got a little hot, so i decided to get some hood vents.

I went to the hardware store and found some really cool looking 4" x 14" vents and painted them black.

I would install them but my angle grinder is at our boat so i wont be able to do it until tomorrow evening, but once i do i will defiantly post pics and small write up.

Oh and not on the XJ but my moms volvo, She called me and said that she was spewing gas from below. I get there and it turns out a squirrel ate her fuel line, volvo uses POS plastic lines and not stainless or rubber. So i patched it for now but am going to replace the full run with rubber line.

Talked to the body shop and I think they FINALLY understand they're ONLY supposed to be pulling the passenger crossmember rail. Not fixing dents, not lining fenders up, not repainting, not doing alignments on the tires. Been over this with them like 4 times now and I was supposed to have it back 3 days ago, now I'm looking at Monday or Tuesday.

It's wrecked 89 cherokee im using for a trail rig, I could give a **** less if the fenders arent the same color and the doors have dents

Spent literally 5 hours coercing my gas tank skid and tow hitch to fit together. I guess they weren't meant to be seeing that the tow hitch is laying on the garage floor.

And I managed to loose one of my bolts into the frame rail. Sweet. ****ing Jeep

Here is some photos of the hardware store vents, painted black.

I think they are going to look pretty good and considering it was about $14 for the vents its not a break the bank mod.
