I LOVE manuals. I even like driving my friend's PT Loser cause it's a stick. Autos just take every little bit of enjoyment out of driving. I don't even mind heavy traffic with a clutch. And plus, whenever someone wants to drive it and doesn't know how to drive a manual, I get to say no without feeling like an arsehole.

Manual just makes driving seem like more of a fun activity, rather than just sitting there waiting to get to your destination.

I like the auto more especially off road, plus my left knee is bad, and doesn't like working a clutch for long, which sucks cause I want a Lotus Exige S and it only comes in a manual.

Edit, I learned how to drive on a manual, and love them, but my knee doesn't

I like the AW4 when i get lazy and dont want to clutch it. BUT, i could never quit driving a stick as a dd/rig. I have both and usually prefer the ax-15 over the aw4. when your tired and lazy though the auto is always there.

BTW: NSS suck. not just in the aw4 autos, they suck in every car that is unfortunate enough to have one. ive seen 2 go out in our families xjs in the last year and one go out in a friends 94 suby legacy (it was a manual with it mounted on the clutch plate) Thing about a manual with a NSS is that when it goes out you can still bump start it. But with an auto when the NSS goes U R SCREWED

Manual, autos put me to sleep. Killer for road trips.

Traffic sucks for manual, not as bad though in a Jeep compared to like a Dodge PU Diesel... but if you are a city driver, I would favor an auto. Would be useful for off road, except you are always shifting like crazy it seems to get the transmission to do things like a manual. And, hopefully, I am never in a place again that has traffic that makes me want an auto... that stop and go sucks all around.

Great XJ Troubleshooting/mod sites list:

Auto only because I couldn't find a 5 speed after looking for a few months. But I really wish I had one.

I LOVE manuals and certainly plan on my next few vehicles being a manual. However, that being said, I still haven't *mastered* the manual as my Jeep has the AW4. Totally wasn't set on a Jeep when I got my first car...wasn't really thinking about what I would end up with, as I didn't think I was going to get one for a while. But, my dad found this awesome XJ for sale, we went to see it, liked it, bought it. And I'm certainly happy with it.

I really like the AW4. As someone else said, it's a workhorse. It's about as bulletproof as the 4.0 is, and it's never let me down.

Also, manual Cherokees are HARD to find around here.

I guess the Supra wing really helped out, luckily I landed in a lake and my wheels were spinning so fastz that I scrambled across it like those crazy scandanavians with their 4x4s that walk on wata. I go off of the lake just in time to hit a dirt field right before my flux capacitor quite.
