Wrangler top question

Here's a pic:

Am I crazy of does it not match any of the OEM configurations?

http://www.etrailer.com/faq-jeep-soft-top-hardware.aspx

************************************************** ***********
When buying my 97 TJ from the dealer used I got him to throw in a new soft top he had extra.

Went to put it on for the first time this weekend and it is NOT the correct top for a 97 TJ. The front part is close, but the back hangs over past the spare tire and the hardware just doesn't match up.

So, how do I tell what I've got? Is there a label somewhere that I missed?

Sounds like you got a top for a LJ.

I agree, and is worth more $$, to the right person. Sale it on CraigsList and buy a TJ top.

The distance between the 2 rear bows would be longer, maybe a LJ owner here will chime in and give a measurement. Also the size of the rear side windows panels is larger.

Does it hang about 10" past the tail gate? That'd be for an LJ. Yeah, it'd be worth more to the right buyer, but new or not, it is second hand and may not fetch enough $ to cover the entire cost of a brand new tj setup. Without knowing how long ago you purchased it, I'd suggest going back to the dealer (rather than calling) and speak to the sales guy or manager that threw it i with your sale. If they have another TJ top, they should be willing to trade it out. If that doesn't work, then keep scanning the forums and CL to see if you can work out a deal with someone. Could find a guy about to buy an LJ top who'd be willing to save $50 and minimize your expenses.

That does not look like a TJ top to me. For one thing, tooooooo many bows. And only one point to connect to the roll bar brackets.

It has hinges like a Sunrider, but it doesn't match any of Bestop's configurations either.

Matt, you have posted your tire question in a thread with soft top fitment as the subject.

You will get more/better response if you start a new thread in the general discussion forum.

Good luck.

Looks like LJ frame with Replace-a-top fabric (velcro instead of being sewn in). Length measurement required to verify, though.

Yep, finally found a pic that matched. Looks like it's an LJ top.

That must have been disappointing when you went to put it on.

We bought the TJ over 2 years ago and the soft top was thrown in on the side, not part of the contract, the Jeep came with a very nice hard top on it.

I just haven't tried installing the soft until recently.

I'm not too upset. I'll just sell it and still be OK.

Anybody want an LJ soft top?
