Who else would like to see a factory bare bones JK Rubicon??

I keep looking at the interior of the new JKs and keep wondering how I'm going to get all that mud and dust off the LCD screen and dash.

I would like to have the 2 door rag top with the Pentstar, Dana 44s, 4.10, lockers, 4:1, 33s and the 6 speed manual. I'm ok with or without push button sway disconnect, drop all that assisted clutch stuff but keep a cruise control. If they could put in a flat dash like the CJs...even better. Seats of course are heated and waterproof. Snap out carpet...if any at all.

The new Willy's base model wasn't what I'm thinking either.

Wouldn't be too hard but so far the only option is back to a TJ Rubicon for capable a factory ride.

Thoughts?

Never going to happen. The only way to get what you want is to buy up and then strip off what you don't want.

Ah, how beautifully the orchestra sounds before a rain! In a dry sunny day there is no way for the instruments to sound this way!

If you order one with half doors they come pretty stripped down. Different dash will definitely never happen because they'd lose a ton of money. You can get them fairly similar to how you describe, so I'm not really sure what the issue is

Agreed. That's why I'm building a very sexy set of JK Rubi 44's for my TJ (only with ARB's, 35 spline and 5.38 gears). Best of both worlds and she has factory cruise.

OlllllllO

Yeah, LOL...exactly what I was thinking. He wants bare bones and then some creature comforts exactly to his specification. They'll build one like that only in your dreams.

You either get bare-bones or you get the predefined trim levels. Hell, the Jeep's are better than most when it comes to customizability. I'm looking at buying a mazda 3 for a second car, and basically the only choice you get is one of 5 trims. Most of the options are set in stone. At least with the Jeep, you can add or takeaway a fair amount and there isn't much of a penalty for custom ordering either. When I ordered my 2013JKU I'm pretty sure I was the only person in a couple hundred mile radius who'd selected my options. Apparently people don't like stick shifts no more?

You got two options: buy a sport with 3.73's, throw in a pair of selectable lockers, install those 'barebones' waterproof heated seats you need, and deal with it. You'd still be several grand short of a Rubi. Or pony up the cash for a rubi.

Yea just a pipe dream... When you walk into a jeep dealership they should just ask you what color you want.

What I miss is the ability to pull the carpets and wash the interior with a hose. What I really want is a Sport without ANY IT stuff. Give me lights and a defroster.... with a radio delete option.

and name it RETRO.

Liking that... I only threw in the heated seats as a sacrificial anode. I use my jeeps..pull the plugs and let all that fun drain out the drain holes when your done. I'd bet you'd hook a bunch of jeepers with a bare bones model that had been built like the original Rubi

First year Rubi here. Most were heavily optioned. Mine has every single factory option available at the time. The first owner of mine was a locally famous lawyer, so says the original window sticker. Rubicons have been a rich man's toy from day one. I put the first dent in the skid plate 10 years later.
