Help me with a decision!

I'm getting back into a Jeep after not having one for two years. Currently I'm twisted between purchasing a two door manual, or a Wrangler Unlimited with an automatic. I don't do any off roading. However I want to hear from you guys and your experiences. I will be getting something 2010 and newer so keep that in mind. Thanks for your input!

Are you single or do you have a family? Do you take a lot of long trips? Do you plan to do any towing? Is this going to be your primary vehicle?

Yes, I'm single. It's replacing a Chevy Cobalt I currently use as my daily driver. I do plan to take long trips once a year, and either way I'm going to need the ability to tow if required.

in 12 and up many changes. The auto in those is a lot better trans than the older. deeper first, less oD. handles a lot more torque(off road it is rather good.. The 3.6 has more power, early 3.6's had some head issue and extended warranties, though not sure if that goes forward.

Not sure about the towing capability of the Unlimited but for long trips I would go with the bigger Jeep and automatic. I have seen Unlimiteds on the trails, basically being used the same as their 2 door cousins, in case you get the bug later on. Many are going to the automatics these days, even for off road use. If I buy another Jeep it will be automatic.

I believe 2dr can tow 2000-2500lbs, unlimited is up in the 3000-3500lbs tow range. Don't quote me, check specs before buying. What are you towing?
