Octane for 2015 3.2 V6

Hello,
I'm about to purchase a Jeep Cherokee Latitude with a 3.2 V6. The owners manual recommends 89 octane gasolene but the dealer assured me that 87 octane is fine. I need some asvise. Thanks.

Wikipedia states that the pentaster family of engines, ( including the 3.2) use e85 or 87 octane.
