Looking for jeep to buy

Hello. I have been trying to source a jeep to buy, and most of the 97-2000 TJs that i have looked at have some frame rust that need repair.
and those that seem ok (still some frame rust), and lifted they want too much money$$ for them, $7k+

I am thinking of just getting one that need some work and repair it slowly. Has anyone deal with frame repair?

for most people it would be far less cost to find one with good bones. Body work and frame repair done well is not cheep and doing it your self would need a set of skills and the cost of tools to do that work. You could do it and learn on the way. But dont practice on the jeep welding a frame thicker metals or Body's thin metals is each a skill.

better to spend 2x what ever you plan and get one that may need mechanical repairs at the most. But it all depends on what the jeep is for? just a hobby to build something? DD? wheeling it?

If were you live is the reason of condition issues and cost. I would be looking else where, even if that means a road trip.

Rust repair can get very expensive, very fast. You're most often better off spending more money getting a solid vehicle than picking up a cheaper (initially) vehicle with rust issues that'll blow holes in your wallet to get to the same condition as the former.

Frame repair sections are available if one is inclined to tackle a project. The second Jeep would be a fairly straightforward fix while the former would likely need multiple repair sections running from almost the front control arm mounts back plus body mounts, but again if you don't have a welder and skills to use it the repair can get very costly. Even with a welder and skills it's not terribly cheap as the repair sections cost a bit.

Hey guys. I want ahead and picked up a 97 Tj for a local guy who had it for a while and needed cash. He bough it in 04 with 50k on it and now it has 175k.
Over all it not too bad compare to what i have seen so far. The frame looks already as it was repaired before in the regular spots. The body will need some fixing. The front seat has a hole in it but planing on sourcing new seat.

Wil post some detailed images at some point, specifically on the frame and those area that need work so i can get some input on how to go about it.

Here are some pics for now.
