Fair value for poor condition Jeep wrangler

I'll start off with the back story. My mother in law owns a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. It's a hard top with 6cyl auto bone stock with about 100k miles.

It's sat for over two years needing only a radiator. By now I'm sure it needs a battery and it's tires I know are at least 11 years old. The paint is all faded, and nearly the entire hoods paint is completely flaked off and rusted. Otherwise the Jeep should be a completely usable vehicle with minimal work, so long as the auto tranny hasn't set idle too long. I know that sometimes can be an issue.

Here's my question. My mother in law has recently been diagnosed with medical issues requiring her to quit driving. I want to offer her a fair price for her Jeep, but it's hard to figure out a fair price when it needs so much work. I don't want to over pay, but I equally don't want anyone to be able to say I took advantage of her situation either.
What would be a fair price for a Jeep in that condition?

Search local used vehicle listing, like on Craigslist. Try to find similar condition, year, etc, Wranglers. If not, you can adjust the price up or down, say for new battery, tires, etc.

Then find a price that all 3 (your wife, her daughter) are happy with, also any other family members that may need to be kept happy.

Another option, talk with MIL, decide on a time frame, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 months, etc.

List it on Craigslist, as jeep in need of repair, and list it as "best offer". Then you match the offer.

That way, the market sets the price. Similar to a bidding auction.

If it has sat for 2 years, better look close at the frame and underbody. Moist dirt and gravel driveways are rough on underneath vehicles... Unless it was sitting on cement or asphalt, Poke around under there.
