Build Updates from Factory?

I ordered a 2020 Wrangler Sport X on the 12/5. The salesman I was working with said I would be getting updates from the factory about the build. It's going on 2 weeks and I haven't got anything. No emails, texts or phone messages. Is this something the factory actually does and if so how long did it take after you ordered for them to contact you? Thks ... John

I've never heard of getting factory build updates, email or otherwise, unless Jeep has changed how they do things. I ordered my 2015 Jeep and was able to track my build through the Jeep portal, but that's it. (Not sure if the portal is still an option these days-I and others were basically hacking the system to see updates).

By the way, I see you have listed a '67 Corvette Coupe-very nice. I have a '73 convertible. Must be a Jeep-Corvette thing!

Thanks for the reply 89RedIslander. I just emailed the salesman I dealt with to ask what's up with not hearing anything from the factory, so I'll see what he has to say.

I bet you enjoy dropping the top on that '73 Vette during the nice weather. I'm anxious to finish up the body off re-conditioning of my '67 Coupe. Hopefully it will be done for the 2020 driving season.

Not to turn this in to a Corvette thread, but yes, I do enjoy dropping the top in the nice weather. It's just simply a blast to drive. Although I have to admit, my favorite vehicle to drive as a convertible is the jeep (I have an '89 YJ and the '15 JK). Your '67 Vette however (and all C2s), are, in my opinion, the coolest looking car ever produced. Sexy as he!! ! Good luck with both!

I'd say you have the drop top rides covered well.

I'll update this thread after I hear from my salesman. He told me this after the deal was made so it wasn't like it was supposed to help me make a decision but I did think that would be a nice touch!

The updates that your salesman can get you are when the VON and VIN are issued and when the Jeep is in in production, QC and then ready to ship. He can also get ship date.

You have to ask, the factory won't contact you.

Thank you cranbiz ... appreciate the come back. I did email my salesman but he hasn't responded yet but maybe the holidays have something to do with that. As soon as I get a response I plan to ask him to try and get the info. that you mentioned. Not a big deal but would be neat to follow that along. John

Apparently Jeep used to but no longer offers the "VOTS" (Vehicle Order Tracking System). They apparently offered it thru their website but if you have your VON or VIN you can click on the live chat link on this page;

https://fcacommunity.force.com/Jeep/...-contact-Jeep2

There you can ask for new order build/shipping status information, directly from Jeep customer service.

Today I got in a chat session with them, after getting the VIN from my salesman, and they said it’s fully assembled, been finished for about a week and ETA was expected to get set soon. I ordered it 12/3. Getting close!

Thks maint1 ... tomorrow I'll be at 4 weeks. Salesman said to expect 4 to 8 weeks depending what was being built on the line when they got my order. I'm hoping for next week!

Well I picked up my new Wrangler on Monday and I really love it except for one thing ... the steering, and I'm wondering if this is typical or something I'll have to get used to but I don't like it. It's beautiful and rides great and is much quieter inside that my old 2020 Sahara.

There 2 things about the steering that are different from any other car I've had. First on the Interstate or any basically straight driving there's play in the steering wheel. I can move it about a half inch left or right without affecting the actual direction, which tends to make it want to wander left or right on any slope in the road. Secondly there seems to be too much over-steer. At first I wasn't sure exactly what it was but I just didn't like the feel of the steering and the salesman tried to tell me it was the short wheelbase and I would get used to it. I just traded in a 2000 Wrangler Sahara and it didn't have that feel so I'm not buying that. Salesman did say to bring it back in and they would check the alignment but I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed anything like this. Maybe I should post this in a different forum.

Lower the air pressure in the tires a bit. The dealer tends to over inflate them on delivery.

Cranbiz is correct. Lower the tire pressure a few pounds, should solve your problem.

Thanks cranbiz & 89RedIslander ... I check the tires and they are rated for no more than 40psi, all were slightly above that so I'll drop them some and check it out. Appreciate input.

Set them for what the door sticker says. My guess is it's around 35-37 PSI. What the tire rating says is not what you want to go by. That is the maximum pressure to support the tires weight rating. Your JLU is nowhere near the tires weight rating.
