IMO A couple of basic areas to focus ones attention:

1) The 3x3 down pipe from the header/exhaust manifold as this area is prone cracking
2) The auto transmission.
3) inspect all frame/body/suspension & steering bushings as these are prone to simply wear out over time.
4) Common rust areas would the floor board, rocker panels etc.
5) Shocks should have been replaced at or about 50K miles. if they have not, you're looking at a new set.

rust is the main thing over anything. the cost to repair tends to exceed value fast. mechanical stuff it will need, its a jeep. better to pay 2x what ever you thought if it means no rust out. If this is something you plan to keep.

Its old, its a Jeep. It will always need your attention. Two types buy one of these and one generally buys new/newer. Those that can afford a mechanic and those that are mechanics.

I would also look for full doors vs the 1/2. 1/2 are nice as a second set.
