2020 Hardtop/Soft top issue

My wife is looking to purchase a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. The one she likes comes with the 3 piece freedom hard top. She does not want the hard top. She would like the soft top. The rest of the options are everything exactly as she wants.

So we asked the salesman about getting a soft top instead and he said that they could change it, but it would require a “wiring change” to the tune of $2000.

This makes no sense to me. We owned a 2010 of this same model. There were no wires in the freedom top and I was free to temporarily put on whatever style soft top that I wanted. So I am thinking the guy is flat out lying unless something has changed that I don’t know about. Still makes no sense. Please help! Thanks in advance.

That would be about the price of a factory soft top kit for a 4-door.

Just buy it with the hard top.
Sell the hard top on craigslist.
Buy a Bestop soft top.

Why not order one exactly the way she wants it? I know that you got to wait until the factory gets back to work but that way you don't have to play games with the salesman.

Itís interesting that they told you that. Most people actually get the hard top first so they have the wiring for the rear wiper, so I canít think of a reason it would cost you more for the soft top. Itís actually the cheaper option unless you get the premium.
