2000 cherokee sport with bad motor

Beautiful condition 2000 xj sport with a motor that needs rebuilt not sure how much i should ask for considering it’s got new wheels and tires with a rear axle replacement in november. also new brakes all around with a full sound system(kicker speakers all the way around with a new knewood head unit) 186k miles. what’s it worth?!?

Price is dictated by location. Where do you reside?

Best to go poking around on Craigslist for your area to see what they are going for.
This in WA just sold for $1500 cause of a head issue.

And this is a higher end Limited one.
I paid $1500 for my '00 Sport about 6 years ago with 147K. Kind of running and not driveable. Surface rust issues on the hood and roof. Fairly solid other wise. Did not take much to get her running, driving, and punched through emissions. I do feel I paid a little too much but it was a spur of the moment purchase. Don't regret it one bit though.

Stereos don't provide any long-term value to anyone but the owner - no offense, but it's not part of the pricing on a blown motor. The axle and brakes are good, but you're still holding a non-running vehicle in your hands. Ultimately it's going to be a project for someone else and they will have to decide how much time/effort/funding they have for it.

You may have better luck when it's not Winter as well. My son has a van in my front yard that needs a motor swap. Doing it in the rain, cold and below-freezing temps is NOT an attractive option right now... I'm with Ralph, if the rest of the vehicle is in good shape you may be able to pull 1200 to 1500 out of it.
