Driving Through Flowing Water

The reason it is a bad idea to drive through flowing water is that one cannot see what is going on under the surface. Recently, what looked like some relatively minor flooding that most of our rigs would make it through was revealed when the water stopped flowing. see below.

Moving water is a VERY powerful force. Too many people underestimate it.

Hikers get swept over waterfalls that are just a small creek.
Cars get pushed of the road.
Roads get washed away.

Gas engines have some trouble when the spark plug wires and distributor get wet. Diesels run fine under water.
