Will an AW4 bolt into a 42re spot no problem or/

Hi i have a beautiful 42re sitting in my 98 ZJ and its beggining to slip here and there, my friend has a aw4 out of a 88 XJ sitting and is in mint condition just about. I was wondering if anyone had any info regarding both of these transmissions which both had 242's bolted to it. Hoping for the best any info will help

They were both used for the same engine and t-case...seems like you should be good to go. You should just make sure that all the clearances would work. Don't take my word for it though. I understand why you would want that AW4 tranny, I had a '93 XJ with that tranny and it is a BEAST.
