When I removed my front door cards for new speakers and Dynamat XTREME I discovered that the screw mount at the mirror location was broken on both sides. The plastic at the bottom of the bore was broken off.

The repair presented challenges. The plastic surface at the bottom is supported by three posts. It looks like that configuration was selected so that the cover plug will have some lip regions for grabbing retention.

A 1" long by 1/2" OD spacer was selected as a form for the repair. Thin strips of painter's tape were pushed up into the bore until complete coverage was attained.

The interior was also masked, tightly around each post, also w/ painter's tape.

Some West System 105 Resin and 206 Slow Hardener were mixed up and several small layers of heavyweight fiberglass matting were applied, fully wetted, then the next layer applied at a different fabric rotation. On one door card that had a broken post, several shafts of matting were jammed into the cavity formed by the painter's tape, where the post should be.

The epoxy hardened overnight, the tape was removed, then the small windows were cleaned of epoxy flash using a utility knife blade.

The spacer that was used as a plug was then used as a drill guide.

The repair worked fine. It is not visible when the plug is installed. It permits the screw to hold properly.

My rear view mirror gave way and feel away from the window.... Used some gorilla glue and hopefully it will hold a while. That thing is super heavy.

Also, checked in my plasti dip emblem and it actually looks pretty darn good!
