I believe it's under "extension housing seal". Just pick one of the 4WD ones since the 2WD is different.

Not a dumb question. It just has to do with how someone at RockAuto translated a bunch of supplier's parts into the online catalog.

The seal you're looking for is on the extension housing but that could also be called the adapter housing because it's 4WD. So there are some of that seal under both of those categories.

BUT the 2WD trans also has an extension housing so there are some 2WD seals in there as well under extension housing, and one under output shaft seal since on the 2WD trans it's also the output shaft (where the driveshaft connects). I believe that the output shaft on the transfer case (where the driveshaft slip yoke connects) also uses this seal.

Some of the output shaft seals have a boot and some don't. Both work so it's a personal preference.

Then there are two output shaft seals that come with a new bushing.

AND finally, there is an o-ring. It says extension housing to case. I assume it's between the transfer case and the trans because the extension housing to transmission case seal is a paper gasket. But I don't have 4WD so I haven't had to deal with it.

I'd match your part to what you're buying. I've found that the application notes 4WD and 2WD are sometimes not exactly reliable. Look at that list again and see that National and Timken use the same part numbers and they disagree about 2WD and 4WD.

thanks again,
i'll get this one then:
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...1315973&jsn=10

if i'm understanding properly it makes no difference between having the boot or not, and it's for 4wd and it's from timken.
makes sense?
thanks

Actually, I that's the 2WD driveshaft/outputshaft/extension housing seal. That's why I was saying that you can't really trust the 2WD/4WD notes. If you look at the notes for the National seal with the same part number it says for RWD.

The one on the back of the transmission between the transmission and transfer case should be:
  • TIMKEN 710058
  • NATIONAL 710058
  • PIONEER 759104

And I was mistaken the seal at the driveshaft is not the same between 4WD and 2WD, the driveshaft side of the transfer case seal is under "Driveline - Transfer case output seal" and is different than the 2WD seal.

RockAuto can get confusing.

Can confirm, I used a Timken 710058 on mine.
