T case swap question

I just got my np242j case and driveshaft from the boneyard for 200 bucks. I'm swaping out my 249.( 98 gc with a v8 and bad 249 ) now with all my reading this should just be a simple swap, just take one case and driveshaft out and put the other one in. My question is what else am I going to need? (parts wise)

You might have to get either the donor drive shaft lengthened, or your current one shortened and inch or so. (that's what happened to me.)
The only things swapped over on mine were the bezel and the tc. Had my ds shortened, adjusted the shifter linkage and it was good to go. A couple days later I did the plug swap behind the vic so it would light the right lights up for the 4wd modes.
Did you grab a 242 bezel for the shifter? What year did the 242 come out of?

I thought I wouldn't have to get it cut(the driveshaft) I was told it would match up, maybe I was misinformed?

The tail section of the 242 may be different than your current 249, AND the 242 most likely came out of a ZJ with an I6. This I6 would have a D35 and thus a shorter pinion than your 98 V8 and d44a axle.

The rear drive shaft length can vary because of the above.
