Roll Call - Whose VIC is still working?

I'm just curious as to the lifespan of these things. I've had 2 now that have blown up, and I know many, many others have too. So, whose VICs are still working? And did you do any repairs to them?

No issues with mine after reflowing the “low coolant” pin. It even told me when one the the three bulbs was burnt out in the third brake light a few weeks ago.

100% working with zero issues

Except for the annoying beeps I get from low coolant sensor, low washer fluid and low fuel.

I've had the same experience as Tim above. Had to resolder a few points to fix the "low coolant" alarm. Works 100% now. 212K miles on my ZJ.

Yeap, I gotta reflow my VIC as well, but other than that it's working 100%. Factory original from late-1997.

100% working VIC in my 1996 Laredo ZJ. Granted the jeep just hit 69k miles the other day.

Mine is original 1994 with 87k on the clock. Doesn't work. I pulled 2 out of the junkyard in the last 6 months. Also not working.

I even went as far as replacing all of the capacitors, but I wasn't too diligent with my soldering and have a crossed connection somewhere. When I plug in my VIC, a component starts smoking. I'll troubleshoot eventually.

The long and short of it is, they aren't very robust and will eventually need some TLC. Or do what many have done and replace it with a bin/organizer or some kind

228K miles and mine works. Just get the 4WD indicator problem since I swapped to a NP231.

the one in mine when I bought it wouldn't even come on, after cracking it open it looks like someone threw their entire cup of coffee or coke on the circuit board. Stole one from a 5.9 in a junkyard and reflowed every pin and worked great since 2013.

I haven’t done the reflow on mine yet but funny thing is after seeing “coolant sensor bad” a gazillion times, one time the coolant level was low and the VIC told me about it right away!

Both of my ZJ's I've owned have had "Coolant Sensor Bad" but also correctly displayed Coolant Level Low, so I'm sure mine needed to be reflowed, but have not totally blown up.

Low coolant is a bad sensor in the overflow. I've pulled mine and blocked the hole. Either my zip tie job is bad or I need to install the resistor.
