replacing a pcm

How hard is it to do? And anything I need to know before doing it? Also, what about junkyard pcms? Will any work or does it need to be specifically for my jeep? (Flashed and such)

you'll need a 98 pcm from the same engine/drivetrain. jy PCM will not need to flashed. it's luck of the draw as to the reliability of the unit you pull.

IMO, I would go to Advance Auto online and try to order one to pick up in store using 50 dollars off code HUGE50... one year warranty.

disconnect battery, remove coolant reservoir, three screws, three connectors.

see the link below, read #1, especially the misdiagnosis part, before you call the PCM bad. it could save you some money

then clean the grounds.
