Mail order ZJ fob programming. Any interest?

Just trying to see if there's any demand for 1996 through 1998 ZJ key fob programming via mail?

What I mean is you either mail me your right door module and I'll return it + 2 programmed fobs OR I can provide a used right door module + 2 fobs.

If there's any real interest I can take the time to post more info.

Thanks.

Email is by far the best way to reach me but I do come on here every couple days.

EDIT: If providing fobs they MUST say GQ43VT7T on the back. Any other FCCID and I cannot confirm they'll work.

EDIT EDIT: I can also turn on / off the horn chirp when arming, low fuel ding off and on and headlights on automatically if the wipers are on. There may be a few more things. I'll look and update. Those would require the BCM to be sent to be re-coded.

Instrument cluster mile correction. If you had put in a used cluster and need the odometer corrected I can do this also.

Jaber and jb1331 like this.

Interesting, iv actually picked up 2 OEM fobs from my junkyard but just havenít gotten them programmed yet. What would you charge me to send you what you need and do the programming?

I was thinking $50 if a person provides the fobs.

Includes return shipping via usps priority mail.

I admit I have not looked into what a locksmith or someone who's capable would charge.

If they are cheap enough then this service wouldn't be feasible.

What I do know is that in this area getting a dealer to do it for you would cost an hour at a minimum IF they even will do it on such an old vehicle.

In my experience none will do it for free like some have had success doing in the past.

Capable locksmiths are usually in the $50 range.

How much of the jeep works while the pass door module is in a box? Seems like the sort of thing the BCM would get miffed about.

I think thatís pretty accurate I think they wanted to charge me 60$ for the first fob 40$ for the 2nd. I would also want to know what KG is talking about as well. This info would be good for you to have on hand in case people
start ending you these things thinking that their jeeps will still work during the process.

$50 seems like a very fair price IMO. The only problem I can imagine would be finding a capable one. Around here all you get is fly by night scammers and good ones are scarce.

I can test tomorrow what exactly happens with the right door module removed but suspect no problems other than the right door not locking/unlocking and no window functions while it's missing.

I'll report back.

I'm sure it probably wouldn't make sense for somebody in my area, but for those smart enough to live away from the city it could be a very good option.

Yes. Possibly.

The main reason I started this thread was to gauge interest. It's entirely possible it's not worth it to the end user.

I will say though I'm glad to have gotten remotes programmed on my rig!

How I live without a fob these days is beyond me. *first world problems!

If you want to mail me your right door module and the fobs I can mail them back programmed.

The only way you can do it is either through the dealer or with a high end diagnostic tool.

As far as I know first gen ZJs (93-95) use a different procedure that can be done in your driveway without special tools / scanners to program the fob.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the 93-95 ZJ FOBs infrared and get programed by following a procedure and then pointing it to the dome on the headliner?

I thought only 96-98 could only be programed through dealer or by someone that has DRB scan tool.
Your pricing is very fair. I paid 50.00 to program just one remote they wanted another 25.00 for the second. So 50.00 for 2 with return shipping is not bad at all.

You are correct. I only offer this for the 96-98 ZJs.

Thanks.

I just want to offer services where I can to help recoup some of the money I've spent on various tools over the years. Some are extremely expensive.

Just got my set from him and installed. First time in 6 years I haven't had to fiddle with a key. Great service, had a couple questions and he was quick to respond. I put it off because I couldn't justify the stealership wanting over $100.
Thank you firehawk618.
