Looking at a 96 Gc today....

So the sale with the 97 grand fell through because it was a total heep. Today i'm making a drive to see a 1996 with the 4.0 that needs a trans. It has a small dent in the drivers fender and normal wear with 170000. I'm told the rest of the jeep is in good condition and mechanically works fine besides the trans... I'm completely clueless on how much to offer if someone would chime in that would be awesome!

I'm going to be rebuilding the 42re with a rebuild kit but are there any other ways to make it stronger and better?

Thanks for your help!

aftermarket trans cooler, shift kit, possibly a temp guage. does he have a price on it? that would give us a good starting place. other people might be able to tell you a price, but im not that good yet. lol. good luck

$800 sounds good, assuming the engine runs good.... I'm now about $5500 into a "free" 96 ZJ. (Engine, Tires, Tune-up, bushings, control arms, tie rods ect).

Resurrect a thread? never resurrect a jeep! Its like marrying a woman thats 25 years younger than you are! It will take all your money, eventually leave you for a younger guy and you will be broke and crushed as you see it cruising by with a new paint (read boob) job...
