I started on the '96 black Limited today

"96 Limited 4.0L 242 T/C, 242K miles, $200 purchase price.
I drove this old girl home from my storage today. Runs and drives ok, and then stalls, and starts again, and stalls.
I made it home with four stalls in four miles.
I started with the engine bay grounds and have new NTK o2 sensors and a new harmonic balancer to put in this weekend. I brushed up on the dirty dozen today and I am optimistic that the stall issue can be cured this weekend.
All that will be left to do is everything else!

This was my favorite jeep before the 5.9s came along. I was set on a V8 and up country though..

I like the black with the gold wheels and the gold emblems. Too bad its not a 98 5.9L Limited LOL. I'd love to get my hands on a 5.9L Limited ZJ someday.

HAHA, I don't have anything to put them on .

I had those same wheels on my 96 ZJ. But it was the Limited edition so I think those wheels are a standard limited edition wheel maybe, IDK but I think they look great on the ZJ's, and even better with the black body....the gold/black combination looks awesome. That color scheme would be cool on a 5.9L Limited LOL.

Ya pretty sure they are limited wheels. I like it better on the green.

The only green one I seen was in extremely rough condition, most of the clearcoat was gone, dents and mismatched body panels everywhere, it was in very poor shape sadly.

Me too, as many issues that my 98 ZJ had, I still wouldn't mind having another ZJ. My 96 ZJ was my first Jeep, and it never let me down, after that I've always liked the ZJ's...the WJ may not be too bad either, but someday maybe one of each HAHA!!! I'd love a 98 5.9L Limited though.

I brought the black '96 in the shop yesterday and put it up on stands. My plan was to change out the o2 sensors for starters, and continuing on with my stalling issues. Turns out the bank #1 sensor two was only halfway plugged in. The wiring looked fine so I plugged it in all the way and grabbed my obd II scanner and my tablet with the Torque app installed and did some checking. Turns out the fuel trims were what I expected to see and both sensors were working. I cleared the o2 code and it has not returned.
Lots of pics and more to come today.

Man you really gotta love it when an issue turns out to be a simple and inexpensive fix! Looking forward to the coming photos and hoping there are no major issues.

That thing is clean. Looks like my 96 when I picked it up almost 10 years ago 🥲
