Front end clicking

Hello everybody, so I swapped out the np249 for the 242. Its been about a year now and I've been running it in two wheel drive for a little while. Mind you this is not my daily driver but could be. Anyhow, I decided to put it back in 4 hi cause I'm always spinning in 2wd. Well now I hear clicking in the front end when turning left or right and I'm like, wtf! The cv axles were replaced when I did all this and the boots are not torn so I can't imagine why they would be going bad unless cv shafts dont like np242's for whatever reason. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this matter. I was gonna order some new shafts but thought I'd do this first. Thanks for any input.

Sounds like it's probably the CV joints. Aftermarket CVs tend not to hold up as well. Sounds like the right time to change over to some u-joint shafts.
