flowmaster on 5.2

Anyone have a flowmaster on their 5.2? Thinking about the 40 series on the stock pipes for a throaty sound but do not want a loud and obnoxious sound. Will that work?

The 40 is quite loud, on stock pipes it won't be too bad though, I suggest the Delta Flow version or Super 40. All will drone some on the hwy.

Or, you could save up and order a 3" system from Kolak.

Super 40 on my heep. Sounds awesome in/out of the cab, I get compliments all the time on it, and dirty looks from old ladies.

40 series is on the louder side. If you're looking for something loud, yet not as loud as the 40 go for the 50. I'm not all that happy with it, though, only cause I like loud. But if I had to suggest a muffler to someone, it would be the super 40 or 44. I'd look up 40 and 50 on youtube, see what sounds best to you.

I also suggest the Super 44 for the 5.2. It sounds good as hell I think.

I run a Hooker Max Flow. Straight through design, and flows same as straight pipe. Deep and mellow at idle and cruise, but loud when you get on it. Sounds similar to Magnaflow Ive run Flows on 4 cyl, 6 cyl, small and big V8's and all would drone, regular and delta flow.

Does the Flowmaster 40 really have that bad of drone? I like how the 40 sounds best, and don't mind it loud, but hate drone. Is it also loud when just cruising?

Get a delta- series 50, it has less drone inside the cabin, but still sounds really good outside.

flowmaster on 5.2

I had a flow master force II kit on a mustang I used to own, personally I think it was too loud for my liking, but they had a nice and throaty and roaring sound.

However they would drone really loudly too in the cabin, which would quickly get annoying and unpleasant when cruising on the highway

Has anyone gotten the Flowmaster 40 and added vibrant resonators to help decrease drone? And/or add more fabric inside the muffler to decrease drone as well?

Running a Flowmaster 70 with a Magnaflow cat; it sounds very nice, but a little louder than I was hoping. It's not bad and I've definitely had louder, but I was hoping for a little bit more quiet in the cabin; but we'll see when I actually have a working stereo how I feel about it.

Just picked up my 97 5.2 ZJ and the stock exhaust isn't loud at all. I do notice the sound every now and then during a highway drive, and would like more of a deeper note. I don't want any drone though. I plan on taking my rig for road trips, so don't want to be annoyed throughout the drive. I'd like to keep the V8 sound true. Some of the flowmasters IMHO take the V8 note away a la 50 series.

I'm thinking of installing the 40 series, but really don't want unbearable drone. I've installed vibrant resonators in past cars, and thinking of going that route. However, the vibrant resonators didn't drastically help decrease drone.

EDIT: Just heard sound clips of the Magnaflow Glasspack and I think it sounds great. Anyone have drone issues with this?
