Hello Forum :)

I have a 1997 ZJ with the 4.0 and 42RE, I have been having the infamous stalling/dying problem for a while now, so I have decided to attempt this procedure

https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/96-98-pcm-repair-procedure-w-pictures-1303589/

My ECU has had the stickers removed, so if I mess up on this repair, I have to get a new one, but I don't know how to find the part number for it with the removed stickers.

Is there a way to determine the ECU model by looking at the interior components?

Thanks!

I had the same issue with my 98 ZJ. PO replaced the pcm with an eBay special so I had no idea what part number I needed. Took the VIN to the local Jeep dealer they were able to give me the part number. So after some searching I found one and my Jeep has been running perfect ever since.

Uh I don't think I am going to get that kind of dealership support, I'm not in the US :(

Glad yours got sorted out!

I have the same model Jeep and had the same problem. I got a reman unit from AutoZone 3-7-17. It's been running great since.

The core charge was just $10 so I kept my old unit.
Thank you sir, I called the dealership in Pittsburgh and I gave them my VIN number and I got the part number for the ECU. Mine is 56044406AD, I think your model has some security features with the key which mine doesn't have, that's the only difference.

I found this company en Ebay was thinking about ordering from them

Thanks a lot!!
