take the lever and shove it back to the 2wd position. that is all there is to it. but dont drive around at all with it in part time 4wd. it could damage your driveline if you do it for very long. you might have to drive a few feet for it to disengage. just dont take sharp turns or drive far. if that doesnt work then try going in reverse for 30-50 ft. if that doesnt work then the linkage between the shifter and the tcase is messed up and has to be readjusted.

btw... is the "grande" cherokee the special edition full size jeep that i have been hearing about?

so did you try everything to get it to disengage? to readjust it you have to get under the jeep and loosen the linkage and readjust it.

sometimes it just takes a few tries to get it to disengage.

I'm trying to figure out if this is an april fools thread or not. but just take the heel of your palm to the back of the transfer case shifter and give it a push. using the handle to put it back is for suckers.

IF this is not an April fools joke .. I would suggest getting under it and seeing if your shifter linkage hasnt popped off .. It has been known to happen..

Seems there is a problem with the linkage to me. What you should do is crawl under there and watch what is happening while someone else is shifting the transfer case through its ranges. It should be pretty obvious if it is or isn't doing it's intended job.
