Here is the CPS, visible after lowering the transmission (removing the transfer case linkage and disconnecting the exhaust support).

Mine was retained by Allen head cap screws w/ loose internal tooth lock washers.

I still can't find it. Perhaps I'm overlooking it. Here are a couple of shots of my passenger side engine bay. Am I at least starting in the correct location?

Not seen or felt from the top.

My image from below shows the part, retained by the shiny bracket, below the wingless watermark.

Note oil pressure sensor, then distributor is to left of wingless watermark.

You should be able to spot it with a flashlight if you peek through between the transmission/ engine and passenger downpipe or thereabouts.

Like I wrote and as can be seen in Wingless' photo, sensor is located at about 1-2 o'clock if you look from behind the engine. It really cannot be seen from above - and not that well from below either - but can be somewhat accessed if you know where the sensor is.

The connector from underneath the car. The sensor from the engine bay.

The connector in my ´98 (V8) is near the O2 sensor underneath.

On my´95 (V8) the connector was on top, near the oil sensor.

The crankshaft position sensor has been replaced! As expected, my hands and forearms are scratched up, but I've shed not a drop of blood.

Thank you all for your help with this! I look forward to not stalling on a road without a shoulder.

I know this is a little off topic but what is the connector that comes off the harness with the crank sensor?
When I replaced my crank sensor I noticed that there was a single wire connector that was not connected.
For reference, It was behind the distributer like normal.

The single wire is probably oil pressure sensor for 93-95 ZJ

98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 - daily
95 Grand Cherokee 5.2 - offroad
