1998 ZJ Issue with new window regulator install

I just replaced the window regulator on my front drivers side. I kept the old motor as it still worked and the teeth were in good shape.

The install went fine but it grinds when it reaches the open and closed position.

I wasn't sure how to install the spring. How much tension has to be on it? Could an improperly installed spring cause this?

What tells the motor to stop?

Any ideas?

At 8:49 it shows the position of the spring in what I think is the down position of the regulator.
