YJ gauges

I'm thinking of replacing my factory gauge cluster. I found the specs on the fuel gauge sender as 0 OHMS empty and 90 OHMS full. and found a VDO gauge that will work with the factory sender. Does anyone know what the specs are on the oil pressure gauge and the water temp? I am staying electronic with the gauges and am trying to plug and play with the factory sending units.

Have you done any searching here? There are plenty of gauge swap threads to get you started.

There’s a recent thread here on JF where a guy is doing these things. Look that up he might have thst info.
I have a thread from 3 years ago where I think someone posted the gauge info for me but that’s a few hundred pages and I could not locate it right off

[size=3]Shackles & D-rings are different things.

On my 88, oil pressure is 1-90 ohms and water temp is 55-1365 ohms. Same as GM senders of the era (I have a GM 4.8 swapped in so I re-used the senders that came with the engine).

Thank you very much, exactly what I was looking for. Google didn't really come up with anything but the fuel sending unit ohms

The oil and fuel gauge specs seem to remain the same throughout the YJ years. The temp gauge however is all over the place. 1987 was 1600 ohms at 100* 160ohms at 220* and 80 ohms at 260.

1991 temp was 298ohms =100, 165 ohms = 210, 108ohms =240

1995 100= 1365ohms, 210=115 ohms. 240==55.1ohms.

So. on the temp gauge be careful what you order or find the correct sender for what you do order.

You have no profile info so no idea on my end what year jeep you have and I went over the top to give you the info you need. I have no idea what years in the middle have what resistances but these are the three snapshots in time I have of the cluster specs.
ConchoYJ likes this.

If you cannot fix it with a hammer then it has to be an electrical problem.
