@Awesome I’ve already got a good hardtop and a back up. 400$ should get you an immaculate top around here. Last time I sold a halfway decent one food glass etc. I only got 150$ for it.

Where is 'here'?

Around my own here, you can't find one for less than $800 and primo ones go for $1,000. About the same for a set of full doors.

Yup. Never even heard of getting a hardtop for $400 until now.

You'd think that here in SoCal, where it rarely rains, never gets really cold, people would be getting rid of them cheap. Nope.

North west Ohio. About 15 miles south of Toledo. Heck there’s been one on Craigslist for over a year at 275$ I’ve thought about buying it to just stop seeing it. Lol 500-800$ here will get you a hard top, full doors and probably the rest of the Jeep. The frame will be dust but it will come with everything. To bad there wasn’t a easy way to ship them to you Cali guys. I’ve given two sets of half doors away, one was a set of sahara doors too. They go for like 100$ a pair. I’ve seen them as low as 50$ - Free.

@Chrisnvegas loves taking road trips. If he could pick up a trailer load for that cheap and haul them back out west it sounds like there would be some good money in it.

I keep thinking about all the old cars that get junked here because they can't pass smog. There must be some way to move some of them to other states and make money on it. They are all pretty much rust free

Is there any way to “give them” a salvage title? Cause then you could get them inspected here by state highway patrol for the obvious things and you’re pretty much good to go for a rebuilt title.

All I know is I go to the junkyard for parts once in a while and see perfectly good cars there and you can tell someone was trying to get it to pass smog because there are new parts; new sensors, new plug wires, new other stuff but they finally gave up spending money on it and sent it to the scrapper.

Yeah we don’t have that problem here. We actually have the polar opposite. People will drive them until you can see right through them in multiple places. Then try to sell them for top dollar. Because either way you don’t see many classics on the road here. A lot of people go south or west, buy the vehicles, come back and re sell them for a premium.

They don't need a salvage title in Michigan. I am willing to travel and buy rust free vehicles that cannot pass smog in other states. JS. Clean title and all. Too easy. It can profit both persons in the transaction.

If you cannot fix it with a hammer then it has to be an electrical problem.

Thought I'd mention this here, since I'm spend most of my JF time in the YJ section, where my friends are. I'm mentally fading away from Jeep Forum it seems. I used to come here a few times a day, now it's once or twice a week. Every time I do it's the same crap slowness (by far the worse forum speed, anywhere) in the only forum I pay for. I also don't seem to go off-road as much as in the past, and not the harder stuff as years ago. I'm not selling my Jeep or anything (am just tired, not crazy).

I also bought a new camera, a Nikon Z6, which adds another way to drain my spare cash. It's the first Nikon for me, sold all my Canon stuff on eBay. Since that May purchase, I hang out way more at NikonCafe.Com than JF. I'll still be in and out of JF, though I'm likely done paying for it.

The Mexicans do it. I see 'em using a Camry to pull two other little junky cars (yep) down to Mexico on I-35. Still don't know how you flat-tow front wheel drive cars like that.
