After a Google search I found the solution to my gauge problem in the MJ. One speedometer works, and that's with the idiot lights. The second one doesn't work right and that's with the gauges.

So, take the clusters apart and switch the working speedometer to the cluster with the gauges. Hook it up. Oil pressure and temp gauge tap out. Put the volt meter works. Cool.

Go get the new sensors, for a later model MJ and bam. Oil pressure aaand temp gauge. Fuel gauge is either broken or grounded out somewhere. Not sure how to fix that one.

Dirty, but works.

They weren't fooling around when they designed that fuel gauge.
It's HUGE!
Good oil pressure.

Rust really isnt a huge problem up there, because they dont use salt, etc. They put down gravel.

I know. Both of them are like that. I think the later models move it and there is a tach there. Not sure though.

These gauges are weird. The oil pressure gauge will stay where it's at when it shuts off. Same with the temp gauge. The oil pressure resets when you start it. I'm assuming the temp gauge will do the same but it was at temp every time I started it tonight. Ideally I'd like autometer but whatever.

Alice is running like a champ.

Exactly 105 miles from Provo Utah, the CEL comes on and from the random stutters, I know it's the TPS. The same code and symptoms I had two weeks ago when I replaced it with a new one.

Nearest autozone is 105 miles away in Provo. F it. Drove it there with the CEL on. Stop and get codes. Yep. TPS. Warranty the one on the car and replace it in the parking lot.

Start it up and all of the sudden, front axle is locked. Like I'm in 4hi. Shift it into 4 hi and back into 2hi while moving and axle still locked. Wtf?

Get under the Jeep and readjust the shift linkage. It's correct. *scratches head*

Front axle is D35 with Ausssie locker and factory CAD.

Need to confirm we are in 2hi. Buy a floor Jack in a case. Figure the kid can keep it. Jack up the front end and YEP. We are in 2Hi.

So CAD is not disengaging. Hit it with a hammer a few times and drive straight trying to unlock it. No dice.

F it. It'll be fine. Get on the freeway and doing 70 the 4WD light comes on and scares the crap outta me

Pull off to a parking lot. Remove the vacuum connector at the CAD and drive around. Still locked. Get back under there to re attach it and I remember that I had this issue before when I swapped in the axles initially. I had the connector on backward. Flipped it around and boom. Unlocked.

Wasted about an hour on those two things. Other than those everything is going well. Just passed Salt Lake City about 3 hours to go into Idaho Falls.

I can't help but think these would have been found if I would have had time for a month long shake down run. Oh well.

The Alaskan YJ was surprisingly in great shape. Rust on the springs and steering but no body rot. Good Jeep IMO.

Hahah

Here's my extended family in an ice cave under the Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska. We rowed a native canoe across a 3 mile lake the long way and trekked across the glacier to the cave.

That's a drag. You weren't that far from me. I would have ran over to say hi if I had known you were on your way by. I have got the point were I don't get switches or sensors from autozone. I've still had good luck with Napa but other then that its getting to be OEM if I can.
