Think this is where i go. Has anyone mounted shackles to the outside of the stock bumper? If so why? For stretch?

I would make sure you have a substantial bumper that is properly mounted to the frame. A lot of guys who stretch and put longer leafs in use XJ springs but that's just one option.

I actually have it as one of my quick links.

I originally posted that in a thread that apparently was moved here though

That's because we have good moderators.

I see so how would you prevent the shackle from major inverse

Boomerang shackles

Non tech question. Who the in the world made "bumperettes"? And why havent they been shot?

jeepster93 09-02-2012 07:31 AM

Went wheeling y-day.
My heap broke down!
Was able to get it running and home, but damm, broke down on the trail...

It was the TPS. I don't even know what the blank it even does...
We had a jeep mechanic with us in the group, thankfully, or I'd a been in a spot as I had no clue...

This is from the bumper cam y-day, crossing the Middle St Vrain river.
The water was just at waist deep(rocker slider deep).

Hello to all of the YJ owners!!

I didn't see a welcome thread so I figure I'd post where I would most likely be spending most of my time. I am brand new to Jeeps, just bought my first one. A '90 Wrangler. Hopefully this will be a fun experience for me. The other guys at the firehouse with Jeeps told me this was the place to go for the best info. Just started the tear-down yesterday, got all of the rust out and ordered my replacement panels. Got the motor running well. Overall, even tho I'm not going to be driving it for a while I am already happy about having a Jeep. I do have one question to open with. Just how true is the statement being told to me that Jeep stands for "(J)ust (E)mpty (E)very (P)ocket"? Anyway, I hope for a fun journey.
