Yj "the best jeep ever"

I have a 1990 to Red Jeep YJ, 2.5L, however I would like to find out what the best motor is that I could put in it, with the least amount of extras that would need to add to make it work? I was thinking about the AMC 4.6L straight 6?? It has a 4" body lift, with a custom roll cage on 15" rims and 33" tires. I would like to swap them out with 20 inch rims and 37" tires, with an added 4" suspension lift and knock my body lift down to a 2" body lift. What would be the best gears to run with that combination??

Slow down grass hopper. You can go 4.2 carbed or 4.0 fuel injected. You are only getting a 4.6 straight 6 if you stroke a 4.0. BTW 4inch body lifts are illegal so if its 4 inches he hacked something together. 3 inch is the most you can legally go and really 1 inch is all you should go. You cant really decide the right gears for 37's without knowing the motor. You also need to address the rear axle since the stock one may puke its guts out at the sight of 37's. Figure out your end goal and we can help you get there.
YoYjay likes this.

1995 YJ. 2 inch BDS Spring lift. 1 inch shackle lift. 1.25 inch JKS Body Lift 33x12.5x15's. Engo 10,000 pound winch.
