I only have 3 firearms. The holy trinity of necessary self defese; rifle, shotgun, pistol. The key is training your family on the proper maintenance and judicious use of these weapons and having the rounds on hand to perform the task at hand.

I never felt like I needed more than my Mossberg, Glock, and AR. Maybe a 2nd identical AR for my son would be handy some day.

NHfireLJ and zrickety like this.

All of our current guns are hunting guns. I would like to get a carry gun and an AR for sure. I have two boys, so I suppose we need 3 ARs.

Buy 'em cheap and stack 'em deep before panic buying sets in. Elections always drive up prices and demand. Would also be a good time to look into armor and suppressors before Daddy Trump bans them too

I don't think he'd do that. He's pretty in with the NRA (thank God) and knows he'd lose a ton of support if he did.

The last president that was as friendly with the NRA as him was JFK.

---------------

I fixed my stereo and my 12 volt socket that have been 'broken' for the past couple of years. It was the fuse.

Since I was on a roll, I decided to try to finish installing my visor on the driver's side. I never bought a tool to set the nutserts, so I was using the bolt, nut and washer trick. The bolt broke off in the nut when the nutsert was halfway set, then I messed up the paint around the nut when I was trying to get it out. Looks like I need to drill and find some touch-up paint.

The 4th 5-seater YJ in the world.

Have a few guns. Like more than two gun safes can hold. Not all are self defense though. Some are hunting both shotgun and rifle. When it comes to rifles MANY calibers and styles of gun are required to fit all types of game and hunting situations. That is what I told my wife so I have to stick to that story. Serious though. Varmints, smaller caliber and maybe a heavy barreled gun if doing a lot of shooting like prarie dogs. Still a smaller caliber if having to tote it and walk but in a light barrel version. Then comes your larger game, deer, Elk, etc. Michigan has a muzzleloader season. Shotgun and rifle zones, etc.

I very seriously got into bench shooting with my kids and hand loading ammo. Shooting as a hobby. It requires a few guns.

As far as components to load. Thousands of pieces of brass, primers, too much powder to carry legally in a vehicle at one time, and thousands of bullets. I have between 2500 and 3000 .223 bullets alone. Many other calibers sitting on the shelf in pretty good quantities.

Then there is the actual loaded stuff which we will call ammo. I may or may not have a box or two of shells laying around.

As @Luuca said, you never know how much poop will go down. The way I see it, I can wipe my butt with a leaf (being very careful to identify poison ivy of course) so toilet paper is not as essential. I cannot however defend myself with a leaf and certainly cannot hunt with it and provide food in dire times. I am not paranoid and not an extreme prepper by any means but some things are a great idea. Some food, some water, a generator, Gasoline, etc. Ammo, guns, and components are not a bad thing to have laying around though. I am prepared for self defense situations also. The bottom line, I feel that the second amendment is the most important as it protects all the others.

My wife and I are certainly prepared. We both are familiar with our carry gun and proficient. Getting a concealed pistol license, a handgun and a few bullets does not seal the deal. You will be pooping your pants at the moment that the decision needs to be made if self defense is necessary. The last thing one needs is to be focusing on their gun and how it works. Panic will be major at this moment. Being trained, responsible to range time and practice is major IMO. That way your head be a hopefully a little clearer to focus on the other things that can make or break the deal. More aware of the situation and surroundings.

^^^ My bad.... Our bad... whatever.... it may only belong in political threads also... sorry to get off track...

Sometimes a highjack of a thread is healthy. Nobody else seemed to mind. This thread got highjacked a long time ago. With that being said. Time to rework my signature to bring these thoughts to all threads. Ya just never know when a snowflake, libtard or commy may come along. Not here to offend people or be off topic. Sorry.

We were working on a house out in the country, all of a sudden the neighbors house was on fire. It sounded like Baghdad. He has so many rounds going off in the trailer the local volunteer fire department and police waited a half hour at the end of the road until it calmed down a bit. By then his trailer, barn, both cars, swimming pool and deck were nothing more than a big black smear.
