Iím looking at Autozoneís site and they literally have a dozen thermostats that fit my 94 YJ 4.0.

You're best bet would be taking you're faulty one to the AutoZone so they can find the specific model, but to be honest with you, I'd just get the thermostat with the housing assembly, just so you don't have to go back and take out the new one you bought because the housing failed.

Also looking at the one in a YJ probably almost any thermostat you just saw on the site will fit if you put in your vehicle type in the search credentials, but my first reply still stands.

Make sure you get one with the small air valve and when you install it be sure that sure valve is located at the top. When filling with the coolant mix be sure you burp out all the air. It may take a while to get all the air out.

I couldnít find a thermostat at advanced auto or autozone with the air valve. What happens if I use one without?

I wouldn't try that, if you need the thermostat that bad, then try going physically to the store for an exact match, or find a good used one on eBay and hope they have priority shipping.

Make sure you get the correct temp for YJ. My 89 YJ 4.2L is a 190 degree.

The Jeep 4.0L had a real bad habit of having big air pockets in the head and block which cause hot spots, overheating, and cracking. That little valve lets air slowly escape so the water pump gets properly primed and doesn't cavitate.

I gave you the part number to the best suited T-Stat possible for use in a Jeep motor now here's a link to that exact same unit. https://www.amazon.com/Stant-45359-S...gateway&sr=8-1
Forget Autozone and Advance Auto!!!! And I would not put an Omix-Ada anything in or on my Jeeps
