Runs and Events

Let's try something new by posting events.

My idea is to create whatever thread you normally would in the local state section or any other place and then link it here. Even from FB I guess.

Just post the basic details, date and location then a link to the run or event and try to keep the chit chat in this thread to a minimum so the events stand out.

Dumont Dunes Presidents Day weekend. Incredible sand dunes and day-long desert trail rides to a couple DEEP mines and deserted ghost towns.

I'd like to make one recommendation... Post trail location and not just the trail name

Although we can usually figure it out from searching or knowing the posters location, it's definitely easier if the actual location is presented so we can know if it's something that's even remotely in an area we can get to.

Hmm, that sounds like fun if I'd seen this 2 months ago!

I have two runs for the summer. AZ its to hot to wheel so we hit the road:

Rubicon June 8th. Wentworth to Tahoe plan 4 days+ depending on condition and if anyone would like to run "old big sluice" maybe try it up hill? will add a day to do that way. on Tahoe side snow depth etc.. This date is somewhat flexible, we will be there all of June. Plan to run Fordyce as well. We are staying in Kyburz .

Aug. 3rd Dusy Ershem 33 miles. This year will be running it from the North to south gates. plan 5+ days though if one wanted they could bail from Voyager camp and get out that day we get there and make it only a 4 day run. I plan to stay at Voyager a few days. We plan to in this area all of Aug. So other trails will be Swamp and few other is the area.

Rubicon;Last year was deep snow pack and even in the last week o June Tahoe had snow over 5' deep but it was a short area and the traps were passable, some winched mainly if the snow warms up its slippery.

Dusy; last year we had to wait until sept for it to open. So the dates on Dusy may change do to what ever reason the Forestry wants or does. If this happen then the dates move to Sept. Last month it can be open is Oct. but if they keep it closed to then i will have to think about it as it gets freaking cold up at around 9800ft. Last year in Sept at night water froze in the bottles.
