Parking light issues

So I’ve been going through this 94 Yj I picked up this summer...has a 4.0 in it and is pretty solid for a NY Jeep. I’ve been running into electrical gremlins, which I somewhat expected.
The parking lights have me stumped though. The front driver side parking light doesn’t work, but the blinker does and so do the rest of the parking lights all around. So I took the socket out of the housing and I stuck my test light in and accidentally crossed the black w/ green tracer and the green tracer and bang...it comes on while they are connected but the side marker goes out. Uncross them and side marker comes on and front parking light goes out.

I’m no electrical genius by any stretch....I’m going to order a new socket and try that but looking to see if anyone has any other suggestions...grounds are good and the only thing I can think of is it is the socket itself....I really don’t want to start splicing into the harness if I don’t have to....thanks in advance!

Garage
Check your ground circuit.

If you cannot fix it with a hammer then it has to be an electrical problem.

The ground leaves the socket and goes into a bundle of wires in the harness and into a thicker splice or so it looks with a few other grounds....where that ground comes out goes tight to the inside of the grille...I put a new connection on it, new screw and ground down to bare metal...that didn’t help
