Overhead console

I've been tinkering and fabbing an overhead console. Curious what others have done. Post some pics of your work. I plan to attach min above the sun visors and with straps around the roll bar. I will incorporate a camera screen, map lights and maybe speakers and or the CB radio (Doubtful). I mainly use the CB for the PA feature, love torturing my son.

Great idea! How much longer until you get it installed?

Shaggyjim I am about 60% done, got allot of wiring to do for the laser guided backup camera so thats taking some time as with all my projects they often integrate several systems into one project, I will post pics on this thread and my build thread "operation cheap jeep".

I have done so much with so little for so long, I can do anything with nothing forever.

First test fit looks good. I may just strap it over the roll bar until this fall when the hardtop goes back on. I am going to install a small screen and back-up camera along with a laser line to confirm clearance. Looks pretty happy up there, believe it will be a go.

I made the console from pressed wood that was used to protect a laminate backsplash during shipping and I glued it together then brush painted it with oil based gloss black. I secured it with scrap sheet metal slotted for tie straps and to allow the bikini top strap to fit as well. I fitted it tight against the windshield frame. It is a little bulky and it may interfere with the sun visors a bit. If I build a second one I will custom fit it to the windshield frame first. I believe this one is good to go.
