machining 5.13 gears to fit dana 30

machining 5.13 gears to fit dana 30
I have a Ford 8.8 I built with 5.13 gears. I haven't built a front end yet. Still have the stock d30. I k ow 5.13 gears aren't made for that axle, but does anyone know of a set of 5.13 gears that is small enough to to fit in there or close to it. I can machine the ring gear down a little and get it in there, but Idk if the bolt pattern and threads match up on the ring gear to bolt right into the existing carrier. I can drill and tap new holes if I have to. That's easy. Any ideas? Thanks

Do you plan on running the 37" Iroks reliably with this combo?

If so, call Wayne. If not nevermind.

Sounds like a bad idea. The pinion gets incredibly small. There is a reason there aren't lower gears made for our hp30.

I would find a different axle...

Cheers

I found 5.13 for the Dana 30 that's under the new jk's. They aren't even .25 difference in size, and the pinion shaft is about .10 difference. Very little machining. I may give this a try. I'd prefer a different front end, but this is all I can do at the moment financially. I still plan to spin those 37" iroks, but I rarely use 4wd as it is. Just straight mud bogging. Nothing special. I just want to know I have the 4wd incase I need it.
