Let's say I want to add A/C to the Wrangler..

When my wife bought this Jeep, in 1992, it was the first car that she paid for. We opted to save money and get the soft top and not get the $1000 upcharge for the air conditioning. They looked at us funny when we asked about AC in a soft top. But, we live in the desert and it's about to become my daily driver. I want to see if I can retrofit the AC on the car. It's the 4.0 injected engine and the bracket for the compressor is already on the car.

Are their kits to do this or is it a eBay and forum classified hunt in my future ? The engine bay stuff seems like the easy part, but getting the lines in the passenger area and mounting the controls etc, will not be so simple.

Point me in the right direction.

Quadratec and Ebay both sell the same kit at the same price. Just under $1,000. Ive been eyeballing it forever now it seems. Installation looks easy but not the wallet opening part.

Theres a youtube video of a guy installing it piece by piece.

Garage
An awful lot of AC jeeps came from the factory without AC.
All the provisional AC harness wiring is in every YJ; the dealer merely installed the fully-afterthought underdash unit, plugged in the wiring harness from the unit, did the underhood plumbing, dryer, condenser install, and plugged in the clutch and pressure switch plugs. Pressure it up and viola: AC

So it’s totally doable

Make sure your cooling system is up to the task.

U have a local member having one heck of a time keeping engine temps down while the AC is blowing currently.

Afterall, your engine is the same age as me more or less lol

Here is his up to date thread which started last July.
