IROCk build thread

Got one side welded, just need to hit it with a DA and smooth it.

Forgot to check front strut clearance on the inner fenders... well it fits, so it ships!

So I charged the struts and took it for a very brief spin. Almost ran out of gas so I quickly came back.

... although I did take a step back. My rear axle warped when welding the truss. At some point before I drove it a lot Iím going to have to tear it down and get it in a jig to get straightened.

How did it feel on the first drive? I'm sure it is quite different.

Got the corners welded. Now working on the rocker guards. Got the new metal welded on to the passenger side. Still need to add a brace to the frame, 2 tabs to tie the rockers to the corner guards where the existing corner guard mounting bolts are, and cut a hole for the exhaust. It was interesting bending 17Ē of 1/4Ē steel in my press. It didnít have the nuts to bend it with the added piece of angle I use for tighter a tighter bend radius. Which would have matched the current bend radius of the rockers. Itís not much bigger so I was able to fill the difference with metal and blend it with a flap disk.

Got the exhaust mostly done except for 1 hanger. Iím really happy with how it came out. Itís going to look really good when everything is painted and the trim plate is added.

Video of start up.

Got the rockers finished. I am getting good at repurposing. Used my old transfer case drop kit to make a frame tie in and used my old fuel pump bracket to make rocker-corner guard tie in plates.

I think Iím going to pull the tail pipe and grind the welds. I got too lazy to change the wire and welding thin stuff with .035 is difficult.

The trim plate looks awesome. I tried tapping my rocker to 1/4-20, but my tap sucks and wonít start the threads. My neighbor will let me borrow his. Not in a rush for that part. Need to hit the hardware store for some more bolts too.

Looking good buddy. Those rockers and exhaust turned out nice. We need pics of the tires front vs rear. I want to see the warp
