So I wrote that in July and I finally got around today to prepping the 8.8 minus welding the tubers.

I put these 1"er's in a month ago and removed the t-case drop kit, it runs great without it.

Nice.

What brand are the lift motor mounts? Poly or Rubber bushings?

Looking into this as the next upgrade after the monstaliner project this weekend. Kind of settled on JKS 1" raise blocks so i can utilize my stock mounts. But still weighing options/costs

Stop whining about the 'ride' - If your YJ ain't wrangling your soul free, then might I suggest you buy a stationwagon... at least you can fit all your bull**** in the back.

Daystar 1" KJ01005BK Polyurethane Motor Mount, found them cheapest on Amazon. Yeah the polys seem fine. A very mild vibe increase but barely noticeable. I read Brown Dog were good and almost went with them just to get the rubber mounts but I'm cheap.

Did you get your SYE done yet???

Kruzer i would get a new mount as most are destroyed and if they aren't they fall apart if ran at a different angle than they have been for the last 10+ years ha

I like my YJ how I like my whiskey, on the rocks with just a touch of color!

Nah but within the next week I'm gonna put it in with my Barnes 2" drop belly and from there I'll set the pinion angle on the 8.8

Ok, knocked out the SYE. Did it in 2 days , 3 days apart which I don't recommend because the 2nd day felt like I was forgetting something.
Popped out the needle bearings easily with a 36mm socket.
I'm doing too many things at once which is having to make me think carefully what to do in order. Doing the speedo gear and electric 4wd switch while I have the belly plate off. Almost measured for the XJ driveshaft before putting the 2" drop belly (Barnes 4wd) I'm planning on putting a 8.8 in after this. But I wanted to hook it up to the D35 to make sure the SYE is ok.

Looking good. Good, solid mods being done. I like it.
I got that same front axle kit from RWK. Great deal and a good guy to deal with.

I installed the Barnes4WD 2" belly plate and I got the drive shaft in the mail and popped it on my jeep. Shoulda just got it with the sye as a deal but I was gonna do the XJ drive shaft thing but changed my mind. Anyhow hooked it up, took it for a spin to include 4x4 in a dirt lot and everything went well. The SYE worked, put in a poly trans mount which increased vibes a tad more on top of the polly motor mounts but it's ok I feel as one with the engine now
I know my pinon angle is off but even at 40 I barely notice an increase in vibes. Next move is dropping the 8.8 on there and this is not my DD.

I was concerned bout the front ds hitting the belly plate but it's ony a 1" difference and I'm only riding around 3" lift.

this is where it was sitting

Dont be afraid to notch the skid if you need to. Mine is cut to hell for my trans pan, exhaust, front driveshaft and rear of transfer case.

Finished setting the pinion angle and welding the spring perches and shock mounts on the 8.8, filled the dif, had the rotors turned and installed new calipers and had my wifey help me bleed the lines. Doesn't sound like a lot but kicked my but all day. Didn't have time to test drive it and I have 2 full days of work so I can't wait. Next move is to throw the D30 in the front . BTW got some fancy u bolt plates from RuffStuff. I shoulda just got the whole set up but I had the u bolts already.

8.8 looks good ? Now you should protect that beauty with one of these http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/ford-8-8-skid-plate/

I have one protecting my 8.8 and I love it. I've dragged it over rocks and smashed it on trails and its held up beautifully!
