i found a jeep i like need opinions.

so i found a 1989 wrangler on 35's. with a hard top, soft top, bikini top, half doors, and full doors. it has 45000 miles on the new motor (4 cycl) the paint is black and looks great. no stains on the interior. manual. it has 145000 miles overall. the rims and tires alone cost 4 grand. i would be able to get the whole jeep for 3300$

and i would still be able to keep my camaro.

any opinions?

ima test drive it before i make any drastic desions.

o and i looked under the car and didnt see a drip of anything on the concrete. and i know the owner so i know everything he did was done the right way
sorry the pics are so ****ty. its garaged kept

how come when i put in html codes it doesnt show pics?

if it drives and stops then i say take it!! make sure no death wobble and no "funny" sounds. also looks like a new valve cover and new plug wires in there too. sounds like a deal.

what do you plan on doing with it?

ever heard the expression " if it's soounds to good to be true, it probably is"?if ti's just a toy around town toy it'll work. yj models really aren't that expensive. you can buy them all day long with the 6cyl for that kind of money. that isn't 4k in wheels and tires. that's not even looking like 2k in wheels and tires. so my opinion is if you are looking for a jeep to build on, go for it. if you are looking for a free ride, i doubt it. hope i'm not being the downer.

Doesn't look like it has been offroad, it looks as though someone just wanted a big Jeep to look cool.

Nice looking truck. Price varies GREATLY from region to region, so IMHO I'd check other trucks for a comparison.

If that truck was up here in the Midwest, it would likely be a $4,500-$5,000 truck. While the tires MIGHT have been $4k new, you can get similar sets used for $1,200-1,500.

In a jeep that means it's time to add more

Seems like an average deal, not great.

If they paid 4K for those rims and tires they got screwed big time.

those rims are titanium and the tires must be kevlar. still got ripped off.

it's an ok deal. you're dealing with an old yj. i bought my 95 for 2200 with american racing teflon wheels and brand new cooper ss/t s. not that great of a deal. gotta know where to look though.

You should never refer to a Jeep as a car. It's hard to believe someone paid 4 grand for those tires and wheels.

Looks like a nice Jeep. Don't hurry into it. Drive it inspect it and decide.
You should keep the camaro you'll need a second vehicle to get to the parts store for Jeep parts when your working on your rig.

O and the last jeep around here wasn’t lifted or anything special and sold for 4500 with about the same mileage, only soft top. And knowing the guy that owns it he was including whatever lift rims tires and installation when he told me four grand.

how hard/expensive would it be for me to find a I6 and swap it in? or what small block bolts in easiest?

Gotta agree w/ everyone else, I dont see 4k worth tires and rims, but looks like a decent rig. Does the pillow come w/ it? If there truly is nothing at all leaking underneath it, I question it truly being a Jeep Up here I would say check REAL good for rust (floor pan under carpet, frame, backside of rockers etc...), but that may not be a big factor in NC. Take it to a local mechanic and have 'em give it a once over, if she checks out, sounds like a pretty fair deal to me.

My opinion? I wouldn't get a 4cyl. I had one, thinking I'd be okay with it. I always wish I had the six. Now I do. There is no real benefit to the 4cyl. I would hold out and wait for a 6cyl. It'll just make life easier.
