Dana 44 front axle configuration questions

I know this isn't really a YJ specific question but I also know that plenty of people on here run D44 front axles.

One of my biggest problems with the non unit bearing style of bearings is the greased bearings and keeping them clean/dry. No matter what seal I try to run, I can't ever seem to keep grease in the needle bearings (circled in blue). Subsequently, the needle bearings typically seize up in a matter of months despite being stored in a garage and driven less than 50 miles (mostly offroad though). The inner wheel bearings (circled in red) don't seem to have a very good seal either but those have significantly more grease so it takes longer for a problem to occur. Lastly, the oil seal (circled in yellow) isn't really applicable since I'm running RCV's...maybe that's the root cause but I suspect all RCV owners aren't having the same issues or there would be a lot of feedback regarding it.

What am I missing?

Do the RCV have a snap ring at the end of the stub shaft?
By using the oil seal circled in yellow with the snap ring it keeps the dirt out.
I use these spindle bushings rather than the spindle bearing.

I like that concept. Sounds like the seal behind that isn't even really even recommended so it must do a decent job.

That's a great idea, I should pick up a set of those. How long have you been running them? Just curious on longevity.

That's good to know, I was concerned it would become routine maintenance item.
